Nevada Cadets Participate in Red Flag

Fiday the 13th was a lucky day for fifteen members of the Nevada Wing. They had a “thrill of a life time” experience flying with a seasoned refueling crew aboard a KC 10 tanker.

Cadets and seniors from Jim Bridger Middle School Cadet Squadron, Henderson Composite Squadron, Nellis Composite Squadron, and the 70th Cadet Squadron from North Las Vegas Airport participated in a Red Flag refueling mission over the Nevada desert. <<more>>

Nevada Wing Receives New Aircraft

Nevada Wing has received a new aircraft - a glass cockpit turbocharged C182T.  Maj Arden Heffernan and Capt Randy McLain spent a week at the Cessna factory attending training and delivered the aircraft to Reno on March 8, 2009.  N946CA will be based at Reno.

IMU Client Server Now Online

A major improvement to the IMU has been introduced -- the Internet Client Server Mode.  This makes the IMU much faster and and more stable.  Authorized users can download instructions for configuring their IMU client.

Dues Increase for FY2009

Nevada Wing has increased its dues for FY2009.  This is in response to a decrease in our state grant (which is based on the greatly reduced number of gallons of aviation gasoline sold) and increases in the prices of everything we buy.

The new annual dues for seniors are $72 for initial membership and $62 for renewals.  The new annual dues for cadets are $30.

There is also a new CAPF 12 (Application for Membership) posted on the National website.  Older versions will not be accepted after1 Oct 08, so please be sure to get the new form.

Electronic SIMS
Many units around the country are using SIMS, and users are very happy and pleased.  Basically, SIMS consists of a download from eServices, which contains almost all of the information needed on CAPF 45 and CAPF 45b.  Additional information, such as ribbons, can be entered into simple forms.  The program then formats this information into a “look-a-like” for the CAPF forms which automates the process.  It saves a bunch of work, and is recommended to the attention of both Wing and all units. A PowerPoint presentation detailing the uses of SIMS can be obtained at: http://www.squadroncommand.com/filemgmt/visit.php?lid=133

An abbreviated version of SIMS is available in the WMU, and the full version can be downloaded (see link in PowerPoint presentation).  The local authorization is available on our publications page >> NV Wing Supp 1 to CAPR 50-17
